There is so much that needs to be done as a homeowner. So much stuff, in fact, that it can become extremely overwhelming. You have to worry about bills, plumbing, carpeting, furniture, electric, heating and so much more… and that’s not even counting the outside.

Outside your home’s walls can be easy to forget while you’re inside. But once you look outside and realize that pretty much every but you and your family only see what’s on the outside — you will get pretty serious about keeping your outside just as nice as your inside.

Having healthy trees, for instance, might not seem like a priority when you’re standing in your kitchen looking at all the inside contents of your home. But take a step outside and look at those trees. You’re going to want to have healthy trees before you even walk back inside the house.

Proper tree care is essential for a healthy and beautiful landscape no matter what kind of property you have. Whether you’re maintaining your front yard for your neighbors to enjoy (be jealous of) or you’re working on trees at a school or business, there are a few things to keep in mind when dealing with tree health.

Root Fertilization

It’s important that you properly fertilize your trees every once in a while. Be very careful though, as you can easily damage the soil and roots of the tree if you over fertilize or over water them.

Mulch

To have healthy trees, you should regularly mulch around the base of the tree. The mulch will ensure that the soil stays healthy and it also acts as kind of a force field for lawn equipment. Mowing or weed whacking too close to trees could cause major damage.

Give Them Space

Both figuratively and literally. It’s important to not clutter your property with objects that could damage the trees and you should also just leave the trees alone once in a while. They aren’t pets or small children, they don’t need to be cared for every second of every day. The healthiest trees can survive on their own for a while. It’s recommended to care for them every once in a while, but don’t over do it.
