From an LED low bay lighting fixture to wall pack LED light fixtures to a halogen bulb to an induction lamp, we rely on lights in to keep our world running. We use lights to light our homes, to lights our roads, businesses, and public buildings. We need lights for the headlights and interiors of our cars, and, in fact, all kinds of motorized transportation, from trains to airplanes, require lighting fixtures of some kind. We use lights to light our homes, to lights our roads, businesses, and public buildings. We need lights for the headlights and interiors of our cars, and, in fact, all kinds of motorized transportation, from trains to airplanes, require lighting fixtures of some kind. In fact, proper lighting is often considered essential for safety. Lighting is necessary to drive at night and many parking garages consider it essential as well, requiring the lights to be left on a full twenty four hours, seven days of the week. From roadway lighting to parking garage lighting, it is clear that lighting is important, and could even be considered integral to the smooth functioning of our society. But lighting can be a considerable energy suck, accounting for over 10% of all energy use in residential buildings and nearly 20% of the energy used by commercial buildings. The Department of Energy has estimated that over 20% of all energy that is generated and used in the United States alone stems back to lighting.
Fortunately, however, options like the installation of an LED low bay lighting fixture or other LED types of lighting fixtures provide a viable alternative to the traditional halogen bulbs. LED lights like an LED low bay lighting fixture have been proven to save a considerable amount of energy. In fact, when compared to the standard halogen bulb, an LED light fixture (such as the LED low bay lighting fixture, for example) uses only about 15% of the energy that a halogen light bulb requires to remain functional. At the same time, an LED light bulb puts out over 80% of the light that a halogen bulb does as well, making it purely more effective as well as more energy efficient. LED lighting fixtures have longevity on their side as well. While the typical fluorescent bulb can last for approximately 20,000 hours, the life expectancy of an LED light bulb more than doubles that at nearly 50,000 hours.
LED light bulbs present a solution to the amount of total energy that we use to light our world – in fact, the Department of Energy in the United States actually believes that the implementation of LED light fixtures and solutions could actually decrease total energy use by nearly half.
